Fannie Akpik and Ancestors // Collector's LE Print

Regular price $2,600.00 $0.00 Unit price per

Elder Fannie Akpik stands in front the Barrow cemetery, where many of her family members rest. When Christianity was adopted by the Iñupiaq, it marked a major change for the culture. Today, the social forces of global media and communication mark another cultural pivot. Fannie Akpik is a strong advocate for regaining cultural identity and language through education in Iñupiaq schools. Fannie is one of the most amazing people I've ever met, and walking with her among her ancestors made it feel as though they were with us. Fannie is more than an elder, she is a future ancestor.
